Fall 2018: "Twelfth Night, or What You Will"
New ground was broken again as the Library Dances model was refined. Mr. Lashua was grateful to have a unique opportunity to collaborate not only with State Street Ballet, but with Shakespeare's Globe in London! Experts worked behind the scenes to aid in the adaptation of the script for a modern stage, and the cast even had the unique opportunity for special workshops with a presenter who had come all the way from England! The abridged comedy stood alone in a full length production blending Shakespeare's classic comedy with dance using funky adaptations of contemporary hits, such as Lady Gaga's "Poker Face." |
Spring 2019: "Seussical Jr. "
At the outset of Mr. Lashua's tenure at SBJH, musicals were requested, but there was no choir program to support it at the time. One of the most frequently-requested shows was "Seussical," a madcap ride through the plot of Dr. Seuss's "Horton Hears a Who" while interspersing characters and subplots from several others of his famous books. Brought to audiences by the same team that wrote the libretto for "Anastasia" and "Once On This Island," the show has a variety of catchy numbers that stylistically range from sultry Latin influences to a powerful faux gospel finale. The musical tradition successfully continued, paving the way for shows to come. A great show for all involved! |
